Energy Optimizers Limited designs and manufactures Smart Grid technologies for load profiling, demand response, distributed generation and renewables markets. Our Smart Grid Technologies include wireless gateways, smart meter plugs, data loggers and load controls for domestic and commercial appliances. Energy Optimizers Limited participates in a number of publicly funded European research and development projects.

The plogg is a combined smart meter plug and data logger, based on Ember’s EM357 ZigBee wireless technology and Teridian’s 6511 metering chip. It can be attached to any electrical appliance or device that uses a standard mains socket plug in either Schuko, UK, French or USA mains outlet formats. The plogg stores the measured electricity data and wirelessly communicates this information to either a PC, an Internet-linked Ethernet gateway or a ZigBee installed Smart Meter.

EOL was formed in 2005 to acquire and exploit the distribution rights to an energy saving technology for application in the industrial lighting field. The technology worked by reducing the voltage supplied to discharge lighting systems after the initial strike phase. In 2006 the company's attention turned towards the domestic energy saving market and a number of re-seller products, timer switches, lighting controls and remote RF switches were added. The most successful of these was a plug-in electricity meter for household appliances.

EOL saw the opporutunity to develop a new plug-in device that would have accuracy, data logging, load control and a wireless capability at its core. The product would be designed, developed and marketed by EOL. This was the beginning of a major research and development phase of our core product, the Plogg.

The comany operates with a number of key sub-contract software and hardware development houses, each specialists in their own particular field be that ZigBee, embedded systems or metrology.

In addition, EOL has four direct employees inovlved in technical support, sales, PR and R&D management.

Our ambition is to find people who share our passion to build the Plogg brand of smart energy technogies and who can work at the leading edge of their profession.

EOL operate on a largely flat organisation structure where problem solving with a collective input is the primary focus.
