TechEye
What we do
We're a technology news site, with the aim to dig deeper than other technology sites. We have a network of correspondents around the world – Taiwan, India, Europe and both North and South America – who have as their brief to pursue stories and bite hard when biting’s required. We have already had the likes of BBC, WSJ, Guardian, Engadget, Gizmodo and CNet mention our stories in their reporting and the site continues to grow its audience.
History & Team
We launched in January 2010. Our team consists of:
Mike Magee - editor (@mikemagee111)
Mike Magee founded The Register and The Inquirer. He sold the Inquirer to VNU three years ago. Mike has been a journalist for
many years and pioneered online journalism. He was recently listed as the 35th most influential person in IT in the UK by the Daily Telegraph.
Allan Rutherford - managing director
Allan has worked in technology advertising
for 14 years, at such esteemed places as Bearpark, Computer Weekly and NetCommunties.
James Crowley - head geek (@jamescrowley)
James founded the software developer site Developer Fusion back in 1999 whilst doing
GCSEs, and has been doing tech things ever since. He was previously head of development at Anorak digital (a division of glue London), building award winning sites for both startups and blue chip companies.
Tamlin Magee - news editor (@wegotblankets)
Like
it or not, Tamlin Magee is Mike Magee's son. He's worked for a range of news publications and has a passion for general geekery: gadgets, games, the internet, social media and hardware. Sometimes he takes off his glasses and pretends not to be a nerd, contributing
to various music and lifestyle magazines. You can find him on twitter and reach him via email tamlin at techeye.net.
A Look Inside
Our Culture
We're an enthusiastic bunch of journalists, advertising and technology folks - of all ages... spread all over the world (literally!).
Just got together for our Christmas party last week, so you can check us out looking slightly worse
for wear in the photo!
We're geographically spread so we don't have a single office as such - though our tech guy James is based at TechHub on the "Silicon roundabout" at Old Street, London.
