Design and Information Management Researcher
About Me
I have conducted research in the field of engineering design within a number of topics, each of which focuses upon supporting the individual designer in their task - particularly from an information provision perspective. Alongside a thorough grounding
in design processes and technologies, I have developed methods to automatically capture and represent design processes, faceted classificatory appraoches to the organisation and retreival of information, and data mining and machine learning approaches to the
interrogation of information.
I have enjoyed working closely with industry, with successful deployments of my work in companies such as Rolls-Royce and Airbus. I have collaborated extensively, co-authoring papers with colleagues from
Cambridge, Strathclyde, Loughborough, Bristol and Hong Kong, and I arranged a two-month research visit to UTC, France. I have managed projects involving industry and academic staff, and have organised various events to bring industry and academia closer together.
