About Me

In my last role, I line managed a team of 6 management accountants with 4 direct report working for the different business units in their individual department. On a weekly basis, I have a team meeting to discuss what our tasks and plans would be for the week. I delegate effectively to my team members based on their individual abilities. The qualified management accountants monitored the variance analysis report on their assigned budget.

In a previous role, I was tasked to take responsibility for financial controls in the different unit areas in line with the organisation’s approved best practice for both income and expenditure. I wrote a finance and policy document, which was to be adhered to, by the budget holders and those involved in financial activities. I provided the needed training for the budget holders to understand why the finance document needed to be adhered to.

I prepared monthly performance reports and forecasts analysing trends and variances in accordance with the organisations’ monthly financial timetable. I meet regularly with my budget holders and provide information and analysis to them by downloading what is on the finance ledger for each cost centre and analysing the spend to date. I set the information out in such a way that budget holders could understand. As most budget holders are sometimes non-finance people, I have to produce information in a clear and concise manner for them to understand which has always been an issue.
